Hi all,
Today I released a new version of aLinks. This version is not a major change from the previous version. In fact, if you’re not having any problems with 1.0rc1, then I don’t even recommend upgrading.
This version just takes care of some low hanging fruit, and fixes a few long running — and very annoying — bugs. The keyphrases grid — which was always breaking — is now fixed. This version also works with WordPress 2.5rc1. Plus I took care of a couple other small bugs.
You can read more and download it from the aLinks page.

Not sure how I can contact you….
I have a few questions:
1) Can it work retroactively to add link to old posts
2) Is there a way to prevent it from creating a link around a word if that word is already part of a manually-entered link?
3) Are these true links that can be indexed by Google or some kind of java trick like intellitxt?

Hi Nick,
All those questions are answered in the docs, but I’ll admit that the docs are long, and finding those specific answers could be quite a search. So…
1) It doesn’t matter when the post was written. In short, yes, it’s retroactive.
2) By default aLinks won’t try to “double linkify” a phrase. Meaning, it won’t touch phrases that are already links.
3) They are _true_ links. They are physically apart of your HTML. There is no JavaScript used.

Unable to activate plugin on Wordpress 2.3.3. Tried with alinks 1.0rc1 and 1.0rc2 with same “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error” message. Not sure how to debug to get more information. Any help?

Sean,
I confirm, new version of aLinks works with WordPress RC1 and RC2 although RC2 is a total mess and I would not recommend anyone installing it.

Which brings up a good point. The WP devs are likely to break compatibility again before fully releasing 2.5.

Besides the two alinks tables in my database, are there any other tables where alink stores key phrases?

@Mike - That’s it.

@Sean: Thanks much for the update, it’s working with 2.5 for me (RC1 triggered a “fatal error” and didn’t automatically recognize RC2 to upgrade).
I read the docs and am looking forward to a manual override in the future so aLinks doesn’t turn some (a few) keyphrases into links! Aside from that, great work! :D
